Dress Code

Dress Code

To promote a positive learning environment for students and staff, our dress code will be enforced in a respectful and firm manner. Understandably, appropriate dress for a JK student may be very different than for a grade 7 or 8 student. School administration reserves the right to determine appropriate attire.

  • Ball caps, hats, and hoodies for outdoor wear are to be removed upon entering the building
  • Shorts and skirts should be a reasonable length (general rule of thumb is that the length must reach to the tip of the fingers when student is standing with arms at side)
  • Bare feet are not permitted for reasons of safety
  • Running shoes must be worn in the gym
  • Messages on clothing that are demeaning or injurious to the tone of an elementary school are not permitted
  • No references to drugs or violence on clothing
  • Undergarments must not be visible
  • Midriffs must be covered
  • No revealing necklines
  • Clothing must be safe (e.g. chains, accessories and very loose clothing can create a safety hazard)
  • Fabric must not be sheer or see through
  • Sleeveless shirts are allowed, but no T-straps, spaghetti straps or very narrow straps are to be worn

The same expectations are required for staff members.

Students who fail to meet the dress code requirement will be advised to change their attire as promptly as reasonably possible. Individual situations will be resolved at the discretion of the administration.
